Grand Traverse Region Low Impact Development Stormwater Best Management Practices Guidebook
- COMPLETED -
Project Partners: Garfield Township, Other Contractors
We have published a regional guidebook for Low-Impact Development Stormwater Best Management Practices. In cooperation with Garfield Township, we worked with a regionally acclaimed stormwater best management practice expert and award-winning landscape architect to develop and illustrate the book.
The book outlines various options for on-site stormwater management in the Grand Traverse region while utilizing and building upon existing sources of information. It covers Low-Impact Design techniques, cost-effective benefits, and is tailored to Northern Michigan's topography. As a whole, LID is a stormwater management practice that seeks to manage and treat runoff at its source, addressing stormwater through small, cost-effective landscape features located at the residential lot or community level.
We hope that this booklet is a valuable educational tool for local officials in amending local ordinances to include provisions for stormwater.
